Why subscribe?

It is important to introduce people—particularly young readers—to fiction and nonfiction books with themes of courage, community and democracy. This free newsletter highlights books about resourcefulness, fairness, justice, courage, creativity and participation. Some books will be familiar; others may introduce readers to experiences beyond their own. Most are about life in America, past and present. All reflect our country’s rich legacy in literature for young people and the belief that reading opens doors to understanding.
